Inter Milan will be looking to secure their first victory in this season’s Champions League group stage when they host Red Star Belgrade at San Siro on Tuesday. After earning a hard-fought point against Manchester City in their opener , the Italian giants will be confident on home turf , where they have proven to be a dominant force. Meanwhile , Red Star are still searching for their first away win in Europe’s elite competition since the days of the European Cup.

Inter Milan opened their Champions League campaign with an impressive defensive display , holding reigning champions Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad. Simone Inzaghi’s men executed their game plan to perfection , becoming only the second team to keep a clean sheet against a Pep Guardiola side at home in the Champions League. This defensive resilience has been a hallmark of Inter's recent European campaigns , with the Nerazzurri keeping 13 clean sheets in their last 22 matches in the competition.

Domestically , Inter bounced back from a derby defeat to AC Milan with a 3-2 win over Udinese at the weekend. Inter’s primary injury concern heading into the match is midfield maestro Nicolo Barella , who missed the weekend’s win over Udinese due to a thigh issue. If he remains unavailable , Piotr Zielinski or Davide Frattesi will slot into the midfield alongside Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Canadian wing-back Tajon Buchanan remains sidelined with a long-term injury , but Inzaghi still has ample squad depth to call upon.

Thuram’s movement off the ball is also intelligent , as he drifts into dangerous areas to get on the end of through balls or crosses. After a slow start to the season , Thuram will be eager to make his mark in Europe and help Inter secure their first Champions League win of the season.

Federico Dimarco has been one of Inter's most consistent performers in recent seasons , thriving in his role as a left wing-back.
